Knit for Newborns
Knitting for Newborns began over 10 years ago in response to a constant need for small hats and blankets for premature babies in the area hospitals.
Since then, we are happy to report that we receive very few requests for premie size clothing, and that babies are being born at larger weights in general.
They still need those hats and blankets, though. As Bill Gates has said, “Consider that one of the easiest ways to cut down infant mortality is to keep babies warm and dry”!
With your help, we have been and can continue to do that.
The links at the bottom of this page provide up-dated information on the sizes and kinds of hats and blankets we need, including our tips on knitting for premies.
We provide hats and blankets to little clients between 0 and 3 years old, and some have older siblings, so all sizes are appreciated.
Hats and blankets can be brought to Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, for the Anshe Emeth Community Development Corporation. If you have any questions, please contact Deborah Cherniss at the Anshe Emeth Community Development Corporation, 732-296-9922.
